Loading the herb chamber on any vaporizer can be a tricky proposition. Using my fingers or credit/business cards can be messy with multiple tries to get it all in.
For all it’s amazing German engineering, the simple act of getting the material into the chamber was overlooked. I used to load my vaporizer with a business card… scrape it on, curl it up, dump in chamber. This works pretty well, but once in awhile the spring action of the card backfires and throws your goodies all over the place.
I stumbled upon these great little triangle trays. It’s made loading the chamber on my Volcano Vaporizer a piece of cake. They’re made for sorting beads, but you might as well call them “Volcano Loaders” – because that’s what they do.
I use my grinder above the tray to catch any trichs that may fall out. Then I tap the grinder out above the tray. It catches everything perfectly. Then it’s a simple operation to dump everything out the pointy end, right into the chamber. No mess, no stress. It also makes re-grinding and re-loading a snap as well.

Also very handy for loading pipes, waterpipes, and rolling your own.
I use a funnel, i don’t know if that is the right word in english.

It works absolutely perfect.
I use a small aluminum measuring spoon – you probably have one in your kitchen drawer that you’ve never touched, and probably forgotten about. I found that the teaspoon size was too big and the 1/4 teaspoon too small. 1/2 a teaspoon – it’s the perfect size and the spoon is deep so you won’t get much overflow.
Thanks for your tips. I guess it’s all just trial and error. I seem to experiment with different amounts and temp settings based on different strains of herb I am smoking. Thanks again.

How much are people using each time? : About 1/8 of an inch here, little more if the quality of the material is lower.
How far down do you push your top screen? : Until it touches the material but not crushing it.
When you put the chamber on the Unit, how much time before you hit the ‘airflow’ switch? : I tend to just throw it on and start filling bags. The first one might be a bit light, but at least I captured every drop! Then subsequent fillings get heavier. Sometimes I get distracted and leave the chamber on while I’m trying to find the bag and notice that the pre-heating does quick start the process.

-How much are people using each time? The manual shows 1mm-10mm…10mm?,that’s close to 1/2 inch. I have been using just enough to cover screen area…maybe 1-2 mm. Thoughts?
-How far down do you push your top screen? Touching product/little space between? Manual shows 1 mm space.I usually push screen gently down until I feel it slightly pushing on the bottom screen, then ease it back a little. Opinions?

I try different methods of waiting a few seconds or sometimes a minute or so before I turn on Airflow. I find if I wait a bit, it seems to produce the smoke vapor a little quicker,meaning I can almost instantly attach the bag rather than waiting 5 sec or so for it to start. Ideas?
I also find a coffee grinder works pretty good to get it very fine…Just BE CAREFUL and learn how to use your grinder …a few quick blasts is all. I’ve tried different temps based on product and anything from 6.5 to 8 seems to work. At 8, minimal amount is needed, and I read a comment about at that temp you might as well smoke it….smoking in a joint produces temps of up to 500-700 Celcius so thats not really the case.

if you are having trouble loading your vaporizer, maybe you’ve had enough.
I recommend investing in the Sharp Stone Grinder.The 1.5″ inch size is perfect.Im happy with mine.Ebay sells them and so do some other online stores.
Use a small, also called demitasse, spoon. I have an old small spoon with the Seasame Street Character Cookie Monster on it. I use it to scoop the herb out of my Diamond Grinder then pour it into the chamber.
