Volcano Vaporizer Bong Hits

I stumbled upon this idea while reading this article – Dr. Kush. And couldn’t believe I’d never tried it. It’s great.

The idea is simple. Use the water filtration of the bong as one last purification step before your lungs. If you remove the slide piece/bowl from most bongs or waterpipes you can press the mouth piece of the solid valve against it and just pull right through. Maybe it’s my imagination but I feel like it eliminates some of the dried out sinus effect of frequent vaporizer use.

It’s also a great way to re-acquaint yourself with your poor old bong, which has been neglected since your vaporizer arrived.

Next time I order parts for my volcano vaporizer, I’m going to get an extra mouthpiece and dedicate it to bong use. I’ll attach some rubber gasket to it for a perfect seal on the bong.

When I was over at the H.T.C Cup in Amsterdam in 2006 I saw this method for the first time. I was down in the lower section of The Dolphin coffee shop and they had bongs set up with vaporizers shooting vapor into the bong where the bowl sits in by simply push the air switch. They even had colored lights under the bongs that made the water look a little blue or pink and let you see a lil of the vapor. I found the high was more heady than traditional vapor but the taste was amazingly sweet. Took more toking than usual but it was a different way to use the medicine and I thought it was fun. Unless you have plenty of herb or are planning on setting the Volcano to say 4.5, then it isn’t really worth the time and effort. If you grow your own this is a cool thing to try but like I said it takes more bud because of all the cooling that happens to the vapor plus the water grabs onto to a good bit of the active ingredients through cooling it. One love

Hi Brian: Excellent point about the loss of active ingredients to the water cooling. I guess it’s more of a party trick to show off to your friends :P

last I read, active ingredients aren’t water soluble…and in my experience, the addition of the baung doesn’t mean you need more herb…at all.

I used to think the same thing… then I read the studies here that showed that waterpipes did cause some loss of active ingredients. Check it out here : http://www.maps.org/mmj/vaporizer.html I suspect it has something to do with the cooling…

Late last year I caught a bad chest cold and had to stop smoking….I frequently started to vaporize using a voodoo vape. I thought this was supposed to be less harmful. But after a month of vaporizing my lungs started to bleed and I was coughing up blood in my phlegm!!!! This has never happened to me before. As it turns out the vaporizer was drying out my lungs from the heat!!! I think it is crucial for there to be a cooling down process before inhalation,as the vapor is just as hot as the inside of an oven when it comes out. I am still trying to figure out which is the best glass vaporizer/water tool combo. Do try to avoid the plastic ones at all cost as the plastic emits toxic fumes as it heats up also.

    Thanks for sharing Kushman78

That’s one great thing about the Volcano Vaporizer – because you capture the vapors before inhalation in the bag, there is ample time and surface area to cool the vapors before you use. Depending on your personal preference you can wait as long as needed before using the vapors – allowing them to cool to your desired temperature.

I also believe the initial moisture content of the plant material will effect how dry the vapor is. If it’s fresh and has a decent moisture level it will make for less harsh vapors.

The plastics used in the Volcano are designed for heat and approved for medical use. The filling chamber and parts which are exposed directly to the hot air are high quality medical grade steel. The bags are made from a nylon oven hose which is designed to take heat without releasing any chemicals or vapors. I can’t speak to the quality of the components in a Voodo Vape, but wouldn’t take any chances with my health.

The Volcano also has a CE marking, which certifies that the product has met EU consumer safety, health or environmental requirements. Info here – http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CE_mark . I also take great confidence in the manufacturing quality and attention to detail in everything Storz and Bickel does. Their location and founding in Tuttlingen, Germany – the “World’s Center of Medical Technology” certainly doesn’t hurt either.
