Vaporizer Leftovers Coconut Oil

For over a decade, we’ve been making butter with our Volcano Poo (vaporizer leftovers) with great results. But we like this new method so much that it’s time to share with you. Using vaporizer waste to make cannabis infused coconut oil is much easier, healthier, and more versatile than using butter. You can make some top-notch product with the right equipment and attention to detail.

You can go from leftovers to usable edibles in under 3 hours.

Our recipe calls for 2 ounces of vaporizer poo to 16 ounces (fluid) of coconut oil. You can adjust this in either direction, and use a larger or smaller Pyrex as needed.

Ingredients

  1. 16oz Organic Coconut Oil
  2. 2oz Vaporizer Leftovers or Volcano Poo
  3. 48oz Canola Oil for Heating (Can be reused)

Equipment

  1. Fondue Pot, Crock Pot or Double Boiler
  2. Potato Masher
  3. Thermometer
  4. Fine Mesh Stainless Steel Strainer
  5. Paper Coffee Filters
  6. Stainless Steel Funnel with Strainer

Process

  1. Place coconut oil in hot water bath to liquify.
  2. Prepare oil bath or double boiler.
  3. Measure 16oz of liquid coconut oil into Pyrex or double boiler.
  4. Measure 2oz of vaporizer leftovers and add to coconut oil, stirring into oil thoroughly.
  5. Place Pyrex in oil bath and turn fondue pot on.
  6. Adjust heat level to maintain steady 180 degree fahrenheit temperature inside Pyrex.
  7. Hold at temperature for 2 hours, stirring frequently.
  8. Be sure temperature does not go above 180 degrees! We are very happy with the investment we made in this fondue pot which holds temp beautifully and precisely for hours.
  9. Turn off crock pot.
  10. Place mesh strainer on bowl and carefully pour hot oil mix into it.
  11. Using a potato masher or other suitable tool, press as much oil out of the vaporizer leftovers as possible.
  12. Carefully and securely discard leftover plant material.
  13. Prepare coffee filter in stainless funnel.
  14. Pour oil into filter and allow to gravity drip into storage jar.
  15. At some point, you may need to switch filters when sediment builds up. By carefully pinching the top of the old filter, you can lift it up and slide a fresh one underneath. Then twist and squeeze all remaining oil out of the discarded filter.
  16. Work quickly to filter all the oil before it starts to solidify again.
  17. Properly label and store your new oil.

Uses

One reason we prefer coconut oil to the old butter recipe is that it’s much more versatile to use:

  • Bake with it
  • Add to beverages
  • Bulletproof Coffee!
  • Apply topically
  • Take sublingually
  • Make capsules
  • Eat straight from jar

I like to save all my vaped herb. Then once I get about 20g or so, I grind it again really fine and just toss it into a baking recipe requiring a lot of oil or butter.
