Volcano Bag Milk

This just in, courtesy of Martia!

Materials

  • Well used Volcano bag
    2
  • 400ml of full fat milk
    1
  • 2 microwave safe jugs or bowls
  • sieve
  • Microwave oven

Method

  1. Stretch out the bag and cut into 1″ pieces. Each piece opens out to a ring. Don’t open them up.
    3
  2. Submerge the chopped bag in the milk. The milk will weigh down the pieces.
    4
  3. Cover with clingfilm and then bring to boil in microwave. Nuking it is better than the hob as it won’t create a skin while heating.
    5
  4. Remove from microwave and stir. Don’t worry about the pieces opening up as they will squash down. Them opening up is a good thing.
  5. Repeat steps 3 & 4, three times minimum.
  6. Break each ring of plastic so it becomes a long length. Draw this through your finger and thumb to remove milk & any residue left on it. Try to break it on the seam, or the seam tends to snap spraying you with milk when pulling it.
    6
  7. When all pieces are done, pour the milk through a sieve to catch any small bits of plastic.
    7
  8. Bring milk to boil again just to kill off anything that may have transferred from you fingers.

I’m hesitant about nuking plastic bags soaked in milk using a microwave. Poor temp control and uneven heating.

Would double boiling the bags on the stove work? I dont exactly see why it wouldnt work.

If someone is pressed for time and otherwise has no choice sure microwave it I guess…. but I dont smoke using soda cans or foil pipes anymore and probably wont for nuke bags for similar reasons.

PS – the first thing I thought when I clicked the article was double boiling…. surprise ~ nuking the plastic bags…. no ty.

I get that! The idea is to warm the milk enough that the oil slides off the bag. Since the bags are oven proof and food safe to 400*F, and since milk boils at 212.3*F, the theory is that the bag film will be kept at a safe temperature. But to answer your question – yes! Double boiling works just fine. Thanks for commenting.

It’s the same using normal cooking flame and don’t the microwave?

    Hi all.

I followed the recipe above for volcano bag milk. Wow! This shit is strong. A general rule of thumb would be the more disgusting it tastes the stronger you will feel it. This is assuming you have followed all steps correctly rather than erroring and shoving some cat anus in with the milk accidently.

I got 450-500ml of milk ending with around 400ml finished bag milk (low boil for 30 mins occasionally stir, lid on to avoid too much milk loss from evaporation). I had 150ml and i was tripping. It took roughly 3 to 4 hours or so to feel the full effects. But i felt lightly stoned for the first hour or two, considered redosing and i am glad i didnt. 4 hours in i was doing some tripping and internal work, very challenging yet fun and uplifting. Managed to bring back some of the “knowledge” i uncovered during my 12 or so hours of whatever that was. But like i say fun.

I slept very well and woke up still mildly medicated 😀 This is from a volcano bag used daily for 2 months.

Less is more, err on the side of caution unless very experienced with edibles. Remember edibles and vaping or smoking are not the same in effects or active ingredients they do not act in the same way or timeframe that more traditional or conventional consumption does i.e. smoking.

That all said, posting to share my experience to help inform others new to edibles/digesting weed. Thanks for the recipe

    Have fun!!!

I leave the solid valve on the classic volcano during heat up, with a plumber’s 31/32 wrench socket on top of the solid valve. This adds as a heat sink drawing heat up through the solid valve. Then it acts as a chimney concentrating the airflow from the vaporizer to easily see if the air discharge turns cloudy. It will keep the screen from popping off too. Then I replace the wrench socket with the bag assembly and fill it. No more running air into the bag until it starts to fill with vapor. Socket is cheap and may only be available as part of a set, at most hardware stores.

The milk tastes disgusting and plasticky. It should be safe due to the type of plastic used for the volcano bags, but I’m skeptical. Here goes nothing, hopefully I don’t get cancer.

Nevermind, I can’t drink this. Dumped the whole batch. I might have left the bag in too long. I did 4 heats, but let the bag pieces sit in the hot milk for awhile after stirring each time (maybe 15 minutes each time). Then I left the bag pieces in the milk overnight because I didn’t have time to finish the recipe.

Me too. Upon tasting this I ran to the bathroom and barfed.

This works excellently. I made 12 pretty strong blueberry muffins with this milk. Just used two packages of muffin mix and a bit over 1 cup of the volcano milk. Taste wasn’t too bad either.

So I tried making this with a two month old bag and used the milk in a latte, about 1/4-1/3 of a cup. This was my first dive into edibles and let me tell you, it messed me up real good. I didn’t even get to the bottom of the mug before the trip started. It was like getting on a roller coaster and not being able to get off for over 12 hours. I was scared to death and paranoid I was dying. That was around 4pm. The only thing that helped was sleeping in between. I woke up in the middle of the night with the worst nausea I think any human could take. Now it’s the next day and I’ve been pretty much useless because I’m pretty sure I’m stoned and nauseous at the same time. Use with caution! My bf drank the rest of it throughout the day and seemed absolutely fine. Definitely goes to show it affects different people differently.

Wowee, this stuff was no joke! My boyfriend and I followed the directions here and split our product into two cups of hot chocolate at 7pm. By 9:00 I could barely keep my eyes open to watch cartoons and next thing we both knew it was noon today!

For people interested in making some weed-infused milk from your volcano bags be careful. I don’t have a lot of experience with edibles, but I’m a daily smoker with a pretty good tolerance. This shit fucked me up. Drank a third of my milk, waited 45 minutes, got to a [3] or so and decided to finish the rest (stupidly). Had the best high in a really long time for about a half an hour when things suddenly took a turn for the worst. I hit a [10] for the first time and did not enjoy it one bit. I experienced really terrifying auditory hallucinations and got overwhelmingly paranoid. I don’t think I’ve ever been so scared in my life. If you’re thinking about making this, do NOT drink all of it. The bag I used was about 4-5 months old (used almost daily).

    • Vapormaster on July 7, 2015 at 6:56 am

Thanks for the feedback M, and sorry you had this experience. You’ve hit on the one truth about edibles – they affect everyone differently. There is no correlation between tolerance for smoking/vaping and eating it. How much food you have in your stomach and what your digestive system is doing can change the speed of absorption quite a bit. Best advice is to take a small amount, and then wait 1 hour and take another small amount if desired, working up slowly and carefully to your ideal dose.

I had a similar experience, and you’re right, it was not fun. Back in 1987 I was stationed in the Army in Germany. I was home on leave with another friend stationed over there. His brother knew how to make weed butter and was making cookies. On the flight back to Germany, my friend brought the cookies on the plane. They fell apart in the ziplock bag, so we ended up eating crumbs. After about 45 minutes, we were thinking, man these aren’t very strong….and then they kicked in!! OMG here I am flying 30,000 feet for 8 hours and way higher than I could stand.

This used to be my old method of cleaning out the honey from used vaporizer bags. I found it too messy and a bit of a mission…..

My new improved method achieves the same results but with much less faffing about. NB: This only works if the bags have no holes whatsoever, if your bag has holes, use the method described above.

Simply take some butter, (a large-ish knob), and place this into the used vapor bag.

Add some off the boil water into the vapor bag, just a small amount like 100-150ml.

Now move the butter around with the water, using your hands on the outside of the bag. Fold over the top and keep it sealed as much as possible, then give the bag and contents a shake to agitate to honey off of the bag.

Pour into a glass and drink.

I have found this stuff pretty strong and have always ventured into a pot-hole… 🙂

And Flowz, this is a great thing to do, if you are not fortunate enough to have shops to purchase from and experience dry spells. Though admittedly, it is a little fiendish… 🙂

Love the Volcano so far. I haven’t smoked again since I got this great machine. And I love the fact that I’m not smoking!!!

Marsha you my kind of WO-mannnnnnnnn!
Big ups from down under, this recipe decked me in the most delightful way possible, used a 6 month old 90cm bag, did as instructed above (3 heats) and was goneCome on in 20 minutes, heavy ascension from there peaking 3-4 hours with string affects at almost 12 hrs later!
    Portioning for sure next time
    Many thanks Marsha!

you guys are crackheads. go buy a sack for $10 and stop being fiendish.

  15. Chai on December 17, 2013 at 7:17 pm

Hey, awesome idea! I know there are a lot of variables, but about how much of this milk does it take to get you high? Should I make a glass of hot chocolate with it and drink the whole thing or make a batch of cookies where you would only consume a small portion of the milk? Also does it need to be hot directly be for consuming or, like pot brownies after it’s made you can just at. Additionally, have you ever tried making a recipe that calls for both milk and butter and used the bag milk + the VAN butter?

    • Chai on December 17, 2013 at 7:20 pm

VAN butter was suppose to say ABV butter, and at was suppose to say eat… stupid auto correct.

Hello, any feedback on this? Strong? Worth doing? Taste?

    Hi there

Just wondering if anyone knows if Volcano Bags are BPA free

    thanks

  18. Mozbo on May 7, 2013 at 4:42 pm

There are a LOT of harmful chemicals in plastic bags, especially inexpensive NON-FOOD GRADE plastic, which vape bags are. Even Zip-Loc bags, which ARE food-grade discourage people from boiling the bags, because of the chemicals released…

I think you are putting more harmful chemicals into your milk with this method than if you smoked your pot…Just my opinion.

When people worry about the plastic used for water bottles and such, don’t you think boiling cheap plastic bags in milk might not be the healthiest way to get those oils?

I think you’d be better off with some olive oil and bread slices. Swipe the oiled bread over the bag, and eat it… 😉

    • Vapormaster on May 21, 2013 at 6:18 am

The official OEM Volcano bags (and oven bags or turkey bags) are made from food grade oven safe polyester. The reason they are so noisy is they do not have the plasticizer chemicals in them like ziplock type bags. They can be safely heated up to 400 degrees F. So if your bag is not noisy, don’t try this. But then again if your bag isn’t noisy, you shouldn’t be filling it with hot vapor.

no in the frig not the frog. ginny49

  20. ginny49 on April 3, 2013 at 5:14 pm

okay I like this idea but what do I use this milk. Drinking is certainly not the purpose. Do I use it in recipes calling for milk in the cooking process? How long will it keep when in he frog.

    • Martia Lant on April 3, 2013 at 6:49 pm

Hi ginny49. You can add the infused milk to a homemade ice cream recipe, make your own mozzarella cheese, a very potent hot chocolate. Make a trifle with it in the custard.
      The worlds your oyster!

    • mog on May 6, 2018 at 9:17 pm

why not drinking? some chocolate and it actually tastes good (cannabis + chocolate is a good combo taste wise)
