DaVinci iQ2 Carbon Review

The kind people over at DaVinci sent us a IQ2 C Carbon dry herb vaporizer to review. Over the past month or so we have been getting acquainted with the vape, testing out various features, and putting together our thoughts to help you make an informed decision. 2022 is the 10-year anniversary of DaVinci and they did not mess around with this commemorative product.

New Beginnings

This was one of my first times unboxing a DaVinci portable vaporizer and I must say, the experience does not disappoint. From the very first look at this piece of tech, you can tell immediately that there is a ton of care and effort put into the customer experience. I am happy to report that the feeling doesn’t stop at the box, this vape has quality written all over it.

Price Tag

Let’s be honest, the luxury experience can only come at a luxury cost. This puppy retails for $499 and comes with a 10 year warranty. When you know you’ve got your vape covered for that long it becomes much easier to justify the cost, but that is surely nothing to sneeze at. The high price is no small investment, but when push comes to shove the quality of the unit and its included accessories completely reflect the cost.

What’s In the Box

Besides the unit itself, the collector’s edition kit came with 6 of their dosage pods, a clip to hold them in, a hydrotube, 1 ceramic extract tab, a flat mouthpiece, a dosage grinder, an engraved keychain with an extra tool, and the charging cable. All of these accessories included means you are ready to rock and roll right from the box.

Why Carbon?

One of the biggest criticisms we’ve had with DaVinci vapes in the past is that they get hot! In the past, if you didn’t have a sleeve accessory, you were in for some toasted hands. The addition of the woven carbon fibers means that your hands will be warm, but I never felt as though it was too hot to hold everytime I experimented with high temps and prolonged use.

Loading and Unloading

Loading the dosage pods with the attached dosage grinder is a breeze! If you prefer to put your flower straight in the chamber it’s also pretty simple due to the funnel shaped opening. Make sure to be careful when loading if you have been using the vape recently. The oven door pearl is heated and is basically impossible to miss if the vape is hot when loading, a lesson you might learn the hard way.

Big Improvements

The DaVinci IQ2 Carbon is one of the only vapes of its kind on the market. Besides the carbon construction, it is the first model they sell with both adjustable air flow and usb-c type charging. Use the app with it and vapes have never been so unique to the user.

Time and Temp

This thing heats up in 60 seconds and is easy to use. Just press the power button 5 times to turn it on and it will buzz to let you know when it’s time to vape. The vapor from this machine is incredibly smooth and flavorful thanks to its almost all cubic zirconia and glass vapor path. It’s easy to draw too much vapor and end up in a coughing fit, so make sure you take shorter hits to save your lungs the grief.

Battery

I found that the vaporizer battery lasted between 5-7 sessions of use. Bear in mind that I like to smoke pretty hot, but I still found it to be a little bit shorter than expected. Luckily, the batteries are removable, so be sure to pick up one or two extra if you have any concerns. Also, the type C charging means when it dies, you’re back in action in 1-2 hours.

Wrapping Up

This vape is extremely versatile, easy to use, and portable. At a high price point and high quality product to match, if you like vaping dry flower on the go, the DaVinci IQ2 Carbon is a masterclass in user experience that you can’t go wrong with.
